One of the worst disasters in the long, disgraceful history of nuclear power has been the on-going disaster at Fukushima, caused by the March, 2011, earthquake and tsunami.

There are several good websites about nuclear power, including
Beyond Nuclear, ENE News, Enformable and the Nuclear Information and Resource Service.

A couple of “big names” on the issue of nuclear power are Dr. Helen Caldicott and Arnie Gundersen. Also worth mentioning is Dr. Rosalie Bertell, who passed away last year. (Gundersen) (Bertell)

There is also a really interesting film about the nuclear power industry in Japan. It is an older film, but tells us a great deal about the treatment of workers in the nuclear power plants of Japan.

“Nuclear Ginza,” part two

But I digress! The title of this post is “Fukushima,” and so I will list some of the sources I have found over the past couple of years.

My son has “turned me on” to a very interesting site called TED (“Technology, Entertainment, Design”).  The site features lectures by noted scientists in fields as diverse as , physics, evolutionary biology, mathematics, oceanography and astronomy, and other folks who are tops in their fields and/or have something worth listening to, people like Richard Branson, Gordon Brown, Isabel Allende and Bono.

Tonight I watched a fascinating talk about marine biology in my hometown of Monterey, California.  It’s really worth seeing.

The real story about Somalia has little to do with genuine pirates, even of the romantic Pirates of the Caribbean variety, and everything to do with toxic waste (including radioactive waste) being dumped by the West in Third World countries.

This list includes articles on Somalia.  The reference gives the link to the website where the article is found.  Websites as separate entries are listed in bold.

I welcome suggestions for additions to this list, and will post more links if I find them.

Nonviolent activism is the only hope for changing a society hellbent on destruction and death.  Here are some sites for activists.

Please check back with me, as I will be updating this, or write to me if you have a particular concern and want to contact groups that are active on that issue.
